With San Diego Comi-Con (SDCC) quickly approaching, more and more news about the genre shows on the fall TV schedule are being announced. Both returning and new shows have many of us here excited for an action-packed season full of superheros, spies, witches, aliens and headless horsemen! We will be covering many shows but to help us assign recap duty to the various GG Inc, staff, we wanted to ask - what shows are you most interested in? Let us know and vote for your top 3! | |

We've started slow with a steady stream of stories on our Facebook page, but now we'll be able to bring you more articles on more topics that ever! We also have a YouTube channel we will be getting content on in the near future! Over the course of the week, we will be running messages from our main editorial staff and writers so you can get to know the ladies of Geek Girls, Inc. a bit better. Lauren Gisel - Editor in ChiefHi my name is Lauren and I am a geek. I watch WAY too much television, quote movies like a second language, and read urban fantasy books like breathing. I'll be writing a bunch of the entertainment news and reviews columns (and other stuff here and there.) My major fandoms are the Whedonverse, Doctor Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate SG1, Farscape (and anything Henson), Fringe, and my most recent obsessions, Arrow and Orphan Black. I also desperately miss the days of legit 'Saturday Morning Cartoons'. I'm also a newbie at cosplay and tabletop gaming, so watch for my semi-regular column, 'Diary of a Noob' to follow my journey further down the rabbit hole of geekdom! Jen Moore - Contributing EditorHello Geeks! I'm posting my welcome from FL, where I'm working on my sunburn and anticipating the release of the final book in Deborah Harkness' All Souls trilogy.
My geekiness first evidenced itself in a love of tabletop RPGs, Lovecraftian horror stories, and Star Trek: TNG, and has expanded into sci-fi/supernatural television (especially, but not limited to, anything British) and fantasy literature (from Terry Pratchett and Piers Anthony to Kim Harrison and Jim Butcher). I tend to get a late start on television shows, so look forward to lots of Binge-Watch Wednesdays and Throwback Thursdays from me about shows I've just discovered but the rest of the universe has been enjoying for years! Tune in the rest of the week to meet more of our contributors! UPDATE! Full season 8 trailer posted by the BBC today! Previously, Dr Who teaser trailer from 7/8/2014... My coworker and I were talking about men and dating (as we tend to do - it’s an interesting topic!) and I mentioned online dating. “Wow,” she said, “You’re brave. Online dating is full of awful guys. Like… you know… gamers.” So, as a public service, I’m opening up my game collection of oddities, indies, and forgotten favorites! Last night, after only 27 hours, our GG Inc. Facebook community hit a fantastic landmark - 100 page likes! We offered a prize of a custom "Geek Girl Inc. Pixel Person Icon" to the 100th person to like our page, and to the person who spread the word! And boy did word spread, watching the like numbers rise over such short period of time was an amazing feeling. We have only just begun! We couldn't be more excited or proud to have the wider geek girl community's support, and we promise to provide original, unique, fun, and geeky content on this new Website (which launches officially on Monday!), our Facebook page, YouTube and Twitter! So, without further ado, our contest winners are "April Author Assist" and friend of the site and west coast contributor, Arwen Morton! Congrats and welcome to the Geek Girl, Inc. family, ladies! We will be featuring your pixel people in the very near future! Netflix Original Series, Hemlock Grove didn't get much buzz in its first season, but in a summer drought of new TV, its worth the watch. Gyspies, witches, warlocks, werewolves and other beasties abound it this atmospherically dark tale of loyalty, love, family, monsters and murder in a small town.
If you watched the first season and need a refresher, Netflix has put together a S1 Recap if you don't have time to binge all 10 episodes before season 2! Enjoy!
