by Lauren I audibly gasped at the end of Mythbusters last night - not from a giant awesome explosion, but from bombshell announcement that the show is parting ways with Kari Byron, Grant Imahara and Tori Belleci. No one has said why other that, 'they taking the show back to its roots of just Jamie and Adam.' I'm kind of annoyed, as much as I love the original 'Busters' - I really enjoyed the M7 team's segments and I really loved Kari in particular as a positive role model for girls in science. I believe this is a great loss to the show of the enthusiasm, youth and diversity offered by the trio.
We'll miss you guys, and hope there are awesome things in your future on TV - I for one, will watch! Chris Pratt stole his Star Lord costume to use to visit sick kids in the hospital "if the movie does well." It not only did well - it was huge (and awesome.) True to his word, yesterday Chris visited the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles in costume.
A new Doctor Puppet short posted today to welcome the 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi. If you don't know what Doctor Puppet is, check out the adorable (and on-going) stop-motion animation series by Alisa Stern. The first episode can be found here. BTW - the new 6th Episode will make its world premiere at DragonCon in Atlanta, with the whole team on hand for panel talks all this Labor Day weekend! By Miss Sally Ladies, if you weren’t anxiously awaiting the second installment of Outlander, then you just don’t know what love is. Here are 6 swoon worthy reasons you should watch Outlander’s Episode 2. 1. You’ll be treated to more scenery and costume porn. Highlands, corsets and gorgeous jewelry, oh my! 2. You’ll cheer for Claire when she defies sexist norms of the 18th century. Claire is a spirited 20th-century gal, and her rebuttals and outbursts shock the men she confronts. We watch her struggle to keep her cool and to maintain control over her own fate in a heavily male-dominated society. 3. You’ll watch as Claire begins to fall in love with her surroundings. Even as she desperately tries to find her way back to her own time, Claire begins to take in the beauty in the land and people around her. 4. You’ll see Jamie stand up for a young lass’s honor …and in lovely Gaelic. He’s burly, he’s got a Scottish accent, and he’s a gentleman who defends young maidens’ honor. This scene sets us up to fall for Jamie HARD, ladies. (Bonus tip: Learn to speak Scottish Gaelic with our favorite Outlander leading man right here!) 5. You’ll feel the mounting tension between Claire and Jamie.
Geek Girl quote of the day: “You know that man can unlace a corset like a sexy panther.” 6. You’ll forget how to speak English during this scene. As teased at SDCC by the 'Keonig Brothers' (Patton Oswald), AoS is adding to its kick-ass female roster by adding Mockingbird as a guest star. Tapped to play the super-spy is Adrian Palicki - who famously was cast in a failed attempt to reboot Wonder Woman for TV a few years ago. I think this is a better fit for her. We'll find out for sure in episode 5 of the new season that starts on September 23rd.
Did you know we were running a raffle to give away a copy of this week's "Fun Game You Aren't Playing - Tales of Maj’Eyal"
No? Well, silly us! Enter here to win! A new 'meta' web series will reunite the cast of Veronica Mars!!!
The show is about Ryan Hansen, who played Dick Casablancas, trying to use the momentum of the new movie to improve his career. Along the way, it would seem he tries to recruit his former cast mates in his schemes - especially since it has been confirmed the almost the entire cast will have cameos. The new show, Play It Again, Dick, premieres the week of Sept. 15 on CW Seed. If we all watch maybe we'll get another movie <fingers crossed> We here are GG Inc. are such huge fans of Robin Williams that we just can't report or comment on these events right now. It doesn't matter how or why it happened. A legend has passed. Our thoughts are with his family. For now, we will leave you with this... |
