So, I am glad that Supergirl got a full season order from CBS. I just hope they cool it with the love triangle and make with more alien bad guy butt kicking!
Despite the mixed reviews in the bloggosphere, Supergirl has been quality family-friendly superhero fair - which IMHO is much needed with all of the darker, grittier hero shows out there. Don't get me wrong, I love those too, but I wouldn't share them with my 8 year old niece, but I would watch Supergirl with her. I've read several blogs lately saying how lame she is compared to Jessica Jones - which to me is an utterly ridiculous comparison - in that there is no comparison. One is clearly for adults, one is for families. There is room for both.

"We LOOOOOOOOOVE Michelle Gomez - Seriously, we Fangirl over her.
She is the very best part of the current Doctor's run on Doctor Who. She is a masterful "Master" - but did you know she will also be Gotham's "Lady?" With all the villains appearing this season, she would make a delicious addition to the criminal pantheon. She leaked the info herself on Twitter a few weeks ago, but tonight is the night! (Seriously loving that hair and tie!Nothing but class...) We'll be tuning in for sure. We are excited about The Force Awakens. Super excited. It seems like every day there is a new clip, a new theory, an new interview with this person about this character... It's too much. You may have noticed that we didn't post any of it last week - and there was a TON. Entertainment Weekly had cast interviews and character insights (Han and Leia, you guys!!) and ABC premiered ANOTHER new commercial with new clips during TGIT. We have reached the saturation point. We want to enjoy the movie when it comes out. We want to be surprised. We don't want to have 1,000 theories and expectations lurking in our minds to set us up for disappointment. WE HAVE BEEN BURNED BEFORE. (We are looking at you prequels.) So we're done. Until we see and review the film on December 21st, this is the last you will hear from us about it. Have faith, join the rebellion against the hype train. Fingers crossed it will be as good as it looks....
The first Finding Dory trailer is here! I know Pixar sequels are hit-and-miss, but we're excited for this one. Finding Nemo is a all time favorite. All Episodes Release on Netflix, November 20
Longing for some epic fantasy now that Peter Jackson has finished dragging out The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit? Well, next year's Warcraft movie may be just what you are looking for. It's only a 15 second tease, but it has serious promise! AMC and Cinemark theaters have recently made statements that they are banning masks, helmets, face painting and (fake) weapons of any kind at their theaters. Regal Cinemas limited these items after The Dark Knight Rises theater shooting in Aurora, CO a few years ago. AMC's website tells customers, "AMC does not permit weapons or items that would make other guests feel uncomfortable or detract from the movie-going experience. Guests are welcome to come dressed in costume, but we do not permit masks. In short, bring your lightsaber, turn it off during the movie, and leave the blaster and Darth Vader mask at home." Cinemark, via posters advertising the December release states; "Star Wars costumes are welcome. However, no face coverings, face paint or simulated weapons (including lightsabers/blasters) will be allowed in the building." Moral of the story is - if you plan on dressing up - check your theater's policies before coming decked out in your Star Wars cosplay finest to make sure you are within regulations and can enjoy your movie experience without conflict and disappointment.
BBC One announced its intentions to produce, with New Line and Bad Wolf, a television series based on Philip Pullman's classic YA novel series, His Dark Materials. Back in 2006, New Line attempted to create their own YA movie franchise by releasing a lukewarm - and rushed - adaptation of the first book, The Golden Compass. Despite the grandiose cast, the series never took off. Hopefully, the long-form narrative of a television series will allow for the proper development of the world and its characters which will extend through the entire fantasy adventure trilogy. A schedule for the production or release was not mentioned in this press notice, but we will keep an eye on this one and keep y'all updated!
CBS announced today that a new Star Trek series, produced by Alex Kurtzman, will air exclusively on their digital streaming service CBS All Access in 2017. The series premiere will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network, and all content after that will be available only to All Access subscribers.
Kurtzman, who has served as executive producer on geek favorites such as Fringe, Sleepy Hollow, and Limitless, co-wrote the Star Trek franchise reboot film in 2009 as well as 2013's Into Darkness. Sources report that this new series will not tie into the movies, but will feature new characters in search of new worlds and new civilizations - and, of course, going where no one has gone before. Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek first aired on September 8, 1966, and the franchise will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2016. CBS All Access is available for $5.99 per month, and users can stream the local network live, as well as accessing thousands of episodes from CBS' roster (past and present). The streaming service currently features all of the previous Star Trek series. |
