Do you love all things 1980's? Do you love ridiculous video game violence, nonsense time travel plot lines, bad acting, dinosaur cops, and music by David Hasslehoff? More importantly, do you hate Hitler? If so, then this new YouTube Swedish short film is for you - enjoy the crazy Kung Fu hijinx to wrap up your week! Warning: NSFW |

by Jen Although I'm a veteran of DragonCon, I've never been to any other con - so I'm a little nervous about attending Phoenix Comicon this weekend! The madness starts tomorrow and goes through Sunday, and while I'm looking forward to checking out great cosplay, attending panels, and spending time (and money) in the Exhibitors' Hall, I wasn't sure exactly how to get started. Fortunately, the Con's website provides some great info for veteran con-goers and n00bs alike! Comicon 101 tells you what to expect at con - everything from the etiquette of taking photographs with or of cosplayers (including a great article on the "Cosplay Is Not Consent" movement) to how to maneuver the con with kids in tow. This will be my first time attending Con with my kids, so I'm excited about all the youth programming and cosplay opportunities they'll get to be a part of! And hopefully I can get my husband to pick them up when he gets off work so I can enjoy a bit of the Con After Dark fun as well. I'm sure I'll have lots to share with our readers once I've survived my first non-DC con experience! Sound off in the comments if you'll be at Phoenix Comicon, or if you want me to hunt down any particular swag or stalk a celebrity for you!
The always fantastic and enigmatic Tilda Swinton is in talks for a role in the MCUs Doctor Strange. Rumor has it she is up for the The Ancient One, a Tibetan mystic who is the titular Doctor's mentor. This is interesting, because the character is, in the comics, both male and of Asian decent. Of course, this is just a rumor - but more Tilda is never a bad thing.
One of the greatest bad-asses in all of sci-fi/fantasy fandoms (and heavy metal music) turns an amazing 93 today. So here's a tip of the GG Inc. hat to Sir Christopher Lee on his epic life and career - rock on , sir, rock on.
Robert Rodriguez has agreed to co-write and direct a live-action feature adaptation of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon “Jonny Quest” for Warner Bros. Fan art has already hit the internet hoping to inspire some casting choices. Our big question is: Who will play Race Bannon and will he wear a tiny 60s swimsuit? Welcome back to your childhood, Conan the Barbarian is actually making it back to the theater.Oh, and we mean this Conan the Barbarian. Not to be confused with the 2011 Conan movie or the many other sequels. The film producer says "The Legend of Conan" will be a direct sequel to the 1982 film. Chris Morgan told fans that the sequel will feature an older Arnold Schwarzenegger and at least three other original actors. Get your fur bikinis ready! Apparently folks are getting uppity about the Fantastic Four reboot casting. Could it be they wanted more female characters or the CGI was terrible? No, some idiot trolls are annoyed that Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch isn't Caucasian. Normally actors don't get super vocal about these "controversies" before the movie comes out, but Michael B Jordan has actually decided to address it this week. You’re not supposed to go on the Internet when you’re cast as a superhero. But after taking on Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four--a character originally written with blond hair and blue eyes--I wanted to check the pulse out there. I didn’t want to be ignorant about what people were saying. Turns out this is what they were saying: “A black guy? I don’t like it. They must be doing it because Obama’s president” and “It’s not true to the comic.” Or even, “They’ve destroyed it!” Here's what the geek girls think about Michael B Jordan as Johnny Storm: *SWOON*
Seriously, the trolls should be jumping for joy that Susan Storm is getting a second chance to be played by a strong actress and not "prettier-than-Kristen-Stewart-but-just-as-bad-at-emoting-Jessica-Alba". SERIOUSLY PEOPLE. We're pumped about this movie and Michael is already a FANTASTIC addition to the new cast. ...so, you are welcome. This is why the show is still going strong after so many years. They know how to have fun. I love that the actual cast gets in on this. Plus how dead-on is Hilly's 'Dean' - so funny!
Move over Vampires - Magic is the new hot thing! It's witches this season on Penny Dreadful, Sleepy Hollow, Salem and now with Mortal Instruments and The Magicians on the way - the pattern is clear. Here is a trailer for your new magical obsession - BBC's Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Enjoy! |
