Game of Thrones is up for Outstanding Drama Series, Writing, Directing, Cinematography, Hair, Makeup and Costumes, Score, Sound and Art Direction. Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey up for Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively. Also, the magnificent Diana Rigg was nominated for Outstanding Guest star for her scene stealing turn as Olenna Tyrell! Sherlock: His Last Vow, has Benedict Cumberbatch up for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie (against co-star Martin Freeman for Fargo, who also up for best supporting actor for Sherlock.) It is also sweeping the directing, writing and artistic categories GoT-style and thankfully they are in separate groups, so they both can win! The ladies of of genre are sweeping the acting categories - including Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson going head-to-head for Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for American Horror Story: Coven, along with Angela Basset, Kathy Bates and all in the Supporting Actress category. Genre TV usually is favored in visual effects categories and this year is no different with The Walking Dead, Almost Human (RIP), Agents of SHEILD, Cosmos, GoT and, surprisingly, CW's The 100. Pleasant surprise: Sleepy Hollow, for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme RIDICULOUS SNUB: Tatiana Maslany for Outstanding Lead actress in a Drama for Orphan Black - or anything Orphan Black! Also, I think Arrow should have been nominated for Outstanding Stunt Coordination (Hawaii 5-0 gets one though?! Outrageous!) |
