Who is looking forward to the third episode of Gracepoint tonight? I am!
Despite David Tennant’s neck beard (dear God, why?!) and the nasal whine that occasionally creeps into his best attempt at an American accent, I am on pins and needles waiting to find out not just who killed the boy but why.

Last week’s episode offered us some seemingly meaningful breadcrumbs on the trail to finding a solution - plus a bit of insight into what brought Detective Emmett Carver to the sleepy town of Gracepoint in the first place.
Tennant, who has long been considered quite the British heartthrob, does a convincing job of making Det. Carver out to be quite an unlikeable bloke. Even the longsuffering Det. Ellie Miller breaks during the second episode, snapping at Carver, “You’re not here to train me; I know how to do my job.” It does appear that Carver thinks no one in Gracepoint is capable of forming a coherent, correct opinion when it comes to this murder, other than him of course.
But when he’s not pissing off the populace and cutting down his coworkers, we see that Carver’s secrets may be about to spill out. What is the medical condition that causes him to spill coffee and sprint to the restroom for a discreet injection? And how long before the enterprising reporter from San Francisco tells the good citizens of Gracepoint everything she knows about his past?

Meanwhile, are any of the good citizens of Gracepoint as innocent as they first appeared?
Why is the Danny’s skateboard squirreled away in the closet of Susan’s trailer?
What sort of history does the seemingly well-meaning priest have with Danny’s mother?
Where was Danny’s father the night of the murder, or is he actually the one who killed the boy - as the secret diary seems to imply?
What about the cash and the cocaine found when police searched the Solano house?

So many questions, and only eight episodes to go – tune in tonight to see what Episode 3 will deliver!
