There are quite a few NON-Superhero flix in our future to get excited about. Here is a not-so-short list of some movies our our must-see list this year.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Who doesn't want to return to JK Rowling's magical wold? We couldn't be more excited for more Wizarding World this year (except if we lived in London where we could go see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play.) Set to release this November.
Ghostbusters
Despite the 'all-female-cast' hulabaloo (which should be a non-issue), we are SUPER STOKED for this sequel/reboot of one of our all-time favorite movies. If someone asks you if you want to see the new Ghostbusters - You say YES! Premieres July 15, 2016.
Star Trek: Beyond
As a rare non-hater of the JJ Abrams reboot series, I am wicked pumped for the newest installment of the series. The Beasty Boys heavy first trailer met with mixed reviews, but I cannot wait to Boldly Go the the theaters for this one on July 8th 2016!
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Not a ton is known about this first SW anthology film, but with another strong female lead (Felicity Jones) we are all in on this heist-style flick. Runor has it the story takes place before the events of Episode IV, and focuses on the group of rebels that steal the plans for the first Death Star that ultimately find their way into R2-D2... Releases December 16, 2016
The Jungle Book
Blown away by the spectacular visuals of the trailer and the all-star line up of voice actors, we can't help but be intrigued by this latest attempt to bring the childhood classic to the big screen in a live action format. Debuts April 15, 2016.
The Huntsman: Winter’s War
This Snow-Whiteless sequel is made wildly appealing by the glorious return of Charlize's Evil Queen and the new addition of Jessica Chastain and the always fantastic Emily Blunt. Oh yeah, and the glorious smirk of that Chris Hemsworth guy. Releases April 22, 2016.
Honorable Mentions
We've already shared our excitement for Kubo and the Two Strings, but we are also intrigued to see the Pixar sequel Finding Dory, set for release on June 17, 2016. We are also embarrassingly enthusiastic for the potential disaster that is World of Warcraft.
We are also keeping an eye on two sequels - the final installment of the Divergent Series: Allegiant and the way long overdue Independence Day follow-up which surprised us all with a stunning trailer over the holidays.
