I’m crying as I write this. Leonard Nimoy passed away today at the age of 83. He leaves behind his wife Susan, two children, Adam and Julie, biological grandchildren and thousands of honorary grandchildren. Back in January 2014, Leonard Nimoy tweeted:
Any here want to make me their honorary grandfather consider it done. LLAP
Thousands of fans took him up on it including at least one of our own Geek Girls.
He was an accomplished actor, director, photographer and poet. He has a distinctive voice that is instantly recognized and made him perfect for the extensive amount of voice over work that he has done for documentaries, animation and video games. His love of photography started early in life and continued into the present. His photography from “The Full Body Project” is hanging in multiple galleries.
For those as fanatic about researching all things Leonard Nimoy as I am, his music is even a gift.

I was a ST TNG kid, but started watching TOS when I was in college. The portrayal of Spock by Leonard Nimoy struck something in me. Through that character I learned to be stoic and lock away the emotional havoc inside me. He taught me the importance of logic, and how it should be the foundation for thought and behavior.
When faced with certain situations, my thought was “What would Spock do?” Words like "Illogical" and "Fascinating" were creeping into my daily vocabulary. Instead of goodbye or see ya'll later, I was saying "Live Long and Prosper." | I believe that "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations is beautiful and vital to a well lived life." |
Leonard Nimoy was Spock for many of us geeks. It is extraordinary that for a man best known for depicting a character that was incapable of displaying human emotion, should feel so personal and real in spite of being a total stranger. Leonard Nimoy made Spock seem real, and made him mean something to all of us. This speaks volumes about how fantastic an actor Leonard Nimoy was.
Leonard Nimoy lived long and prospered, and he will continue to live in on in all of our memories. He has been, and always shall be, our friend.
Rest In Peace.
Rest In Peace.
