Tonight's episode of Gotham, the penultimate in the series' first season, was chock full of things I don't want to dwell on for too long.
For starters, what was Nygma thinking bringing two suitcases full of body parts - particularly the body of a police officer! - to the GCPD station in order to dissolve them in acid? Also, where exactly did he find the space and tools to chop the body to pieces in the first place?
Next, did a boy as smart as Bruce Wayne not realize that all the offices in Wayne Enterprises most likely have discreet security cameras? There was no way he was going to be able to discreetly see what was in that safe, even after pulling the fire alarm!
And last but not least, what exactly was taking place on that stage that made Bullock, of all people, pull his badge and call it a night rather than sitting back to enjoy the entertainment? I did hear some animal noises, so I really don't want to dwell on this one too long - but seriously, it must have been awful to have been too much even for Bullock!
Now that all that unpleasantness is behind us, let's contemplate some of the juicier bits of tonight's episode. I for one was a bit surprised that Barbara survived; yes, I know the lore, but Gordon is hardly running back into her embrace, even after rescuing her from The Ogre! I'm curious to see how the show will develop Gordon's personal relationships going forward.
And hats off to Penguin - business seems to be picking up at Oswald's at last, and now he's managed to successfully engineer a mob war between Falcone and Maroni.
There's no doubt that next week's season finale will tie up a few loose ends and possibly introduce a few more - not that we aren't already hungering for the secrets the second season of Gotham will bring!
Sound off in the comments - what storyline have you found most intriguing in this first season, and what do you hope to see in the finale next Monday?
