Gotham - "Everyone Has a Cobblepot"

It was a particularly dark night in Gotham.  It usually is, but tonight's episode filled me with despair on more than one occasion.  It began with Gordon finding out he can't trust his partner after all - or anyone else, because Commissioner Loeb has dirt on nearly every cop and uses it freely to bend them to his will.  Of course, Harvey Bullock is more than happy to make up for this disappointment when the opportunity arises...

But before that can happen, Gordon and Harvey Dent team up in an effort to locate Loeb's secret files and take them down.  In the process, they very nearly get themselves killed - but they do eventually learn that Loeb is teaming up with Falcone to keep the GCPD in line.

...which of course leads to Gordon seeking help from Penguin, and offers him a favor (no questions asked!) in return.  This, then, leads to the above scene, where tea with the caretakers of a seemingly simple country house dissolves into violence - and in the end, they do discover Loeb's secret.  The commissioner offers to resign,  but Gordon appears to be learning how to play politics - he keeps the man in place as his pawn instead.

Back on the island of misfit humans, Fish Mooney will not be needing fashionable eyewear after all - she's acquired a lovely new eye instead, as well as a position in the "upper management" of this horrible place.  I'm still not sure how she got there, but at least she's making the best of it - not that we'd expect anything less from Fish.

At GCPD headquarters, Ed Nygma is becoming increasingly frustrated with the object of his affection's continued brush-offs - but will her latest boyfriend's attempts at riddles push him over the edge?  I wonder what it will take for him to cross over to the dark side.

But the darkest news out of Gotham tonight was that we have to wait til April to see the last four new episodes of the season.  Damn you, March Madness!
