by Lauren Ok. So, my 'type' (if there is such a thing) is semi-famous nerdy guys who use their celebrity for charity. And wears Chuck Taylors. And is also a Disney prince. And a Broadway star. And is incredibly handsome and funny. So.... Meet Zachary Levi. He is one of the Kings of SDCC. In fact, he runs a very special Con-within-a-Con called NerdHQ. |

He established his adorable nerd credit playing IT guy turned super-spy on the cult favorite, Chuck. He also voiced (and sang) the part of Flynn Rider in Disney's Tangled. Last year he was on Broadway with his musical, First Date.
Being nerdy just means being passionate about something, including everyone - the coolest people on Earth are passionate and therefore nerdy about something whatever it is, whether it's sports, or gaming, or technology, or fashion, or beauty, or food, or whatever. - Zachary Levi

Oh, and he launched a little website called "The Nerd Machine" in 2010. Every year he hosts a series of star-studded small Q&A panels and parties called Nerd HQ (which coincides with SDCC) to raise money for the charity Operation Smile.
Operation Smile provides money for surgeries for children with cleft palates all around the world.
Tickets to these small panels goes to the charity - in fact he has fronted the money for the events himself in previous years, but had to do some crowd funding to help make Nerd HQ happen 'bigger and better' this year. Also, all the panels stream live on their Nerd Machine YouTube channel FOR FREE.
Here is the first panel of this year's Con, with Zachary himself from yesterday morning.
(We will be posting links to various NerdHQ panels ove the course of the weekend? There are also archives of years past if you want to fall down that internet rabbit hole...) Enjoy!
