Continuing from where we left off, here are some more video game soundtracks for our everyday quests. |
For reading totally awesome 90’s comics, dude:
Sonic
Sonic
I never got to play the Sonic games until much, much later in my life, so I don’t really have any opinions about the games themselves. However, sometime in the late 90s, someone got the brilliant idea to add the most ridiculous, over-the-top music ever to these games, and I’ll be forever grateful. Even the most recent songs are undeniably the sound of Nerf fights and drinking too much Surge.
For driving down an endless rural road in the middle of the night:
Kentucky Route Zero
Kentucky Route Zero
You might not be in Kentucky, and you most certainly are not traveling down the Z̺e͙̥̭͋͆̿ͅrͣ̏̉ȏ̩̪̓ͩ, but the eerie ambient songs of this game interspersed with bluegrass might make you believe in magical road trips. Perfect for secret tourism.
For outdoor activities out at the park on a sunny Saturday:
Tony Hawk Pro Skater
Tony Hawk Pro Skater
Relive your dreams of being a skateboarding superstar as you clumsily play a game of horse on the basketball court! All of the soundtracks are good, but my heart belongs to Tony Hawk 3, which includes an important message about cleanliness.
For brunch on a rainy afternoon:
L.A. Noire
L.A. Noire
Bust out your nice dishes and take the time to create a little design in your latte, it’s time to do brunch right with this collection of smooth, silky jazz. Extra points for having a nice book to read. If you’re lucky, you won’t even need to examine any evidence or dead ladies! Also good for working on that art project you’ve been putting off.
For playing cards and having a few drinks in a dim backroom:
Card City Nights
Card City Nights
Your next poker night needs some chill background music. Or your next Magic game? It really doesn’t matter what game you play, really. I haven’t tried making bets on games of Card City Nights, nor attempted to play the game in real life, but I wouldn’t be entirely opposed to putting real money down on a game with cards such as “Apathetic Frog” and “Incredibly Ugly Statue”.
